BLACK 4.0 - THE BLACKEST BLACK - 50ml

We’ve made the world’s most famous super black paint even blacker.

50 ml High-Grade black Acrylic Paint

BLACK 4.0 exists - it’s blacker, goes on nicer and is more durable than ever.

How much more black could it be? NONE - none more black!

We can’t make much of it because the ingredients are rare and the process is complicated.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT 4.0?

It’s blacker than the gothiest goth’s heart.

British artist Stuart Semple pioneered a new kind of acrylic paint technology. Using state-of-the-art acrylic binders, mattifiers and his black magick pigment he made a super black paint capable of absorbing 99.8% of visible light. He knew he could make it, but couldn’t afford to so after a successful crowdfunding campaign and the support of the art community it was finally made available to all (except that one guy).

Ever since then, the lab has been trying to make the paint better. Whilst you were busy making your work, day in day out they tweaked and tested. Finally in mid 2023 (after several years) the eureka moment came with a whole new formulation, capable of trapping more light, laying flatter, covering better and being more robust.

WE KNOW:
● It sticks to almost anything but porous surfaces should be sealed first with PVA glue or a layer of Black 2.0
● It’s best with 2 coats allowing the paint to dry for a good couple of hours between them.
● As with any super high quality paint, less is more - the less you put on your brush and
the further you spread it, the better the finish.
● It works in an airbrush if you thin it with water.

Did you know the person who said “I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour” is now officially naked.
