LIT drinks in light and gives it back in the dark. Daylight, a lamp, the heat of your hand. Hit it with a UV torch and you'll want sunglasses to look at it.
LIT glow in the dark pigment and paint
by Stuart Semple
A drawing in Blue LIT, made in the dark.
LIT
The original. The world's glowiest glow pigment.
Phosphorescent pigment, rare earth activators. Charges with light and with heat. Glows green.

Pink LIT
Glowing pink, from the people who made the pinkest pink.
Phosphorescent pigment. Charges best under UV.

Yellow LIT
Acid yellow light, out of nothing.
Phosphorescent pigment. Charges best under UV.

Blue LIT
A deep blue glow. It charges with light and heat, and goes furthest under UV.
Phosphorescent pigment, rare earth activators.

Ultra
Not a colour, a vibe. Hours and hours of the most epic ultra-violet.
Charges with sunlight or blacklight.
OHMM
The first pure white glow made for fine art. Not cream, not warm, actual white.
Archival and pH neutral, so it won't eat away at your work.

Ecto Orange
The world's glowiest orange. Bright enough to read a scary story by.
It only comes out for Halloween.
What people have lit up.

Make it a paint
LIT is pure powder. On its own it won't stick to anything, so it needs a binder. Stir it into SUPERBASE and it becomes a glow in the dark paint that holds on to almost any surface. SUPERBASE holds more pigment than any other medium, so the glow comes through at full strength.
- Make a paste. Add a few drops of water to the LIT so it blends in smooth.
- Stir it into SUPERBASE. About one part LIT to one and a half parts SUPERBASE. The more LIT, the brighter and longer it glows.
- Paint it over white. A light ground throws the glow back at you.
- Go brighter. Dust dry LIT onto the last coat while it's still tacky.
- Only mix what you need. Once LIT meets SUPERBASE it sets rock hard, even in a sealed jar.
Not painting? LIT also goes into clear resin, linseed oil, clear varnish and clear nail varnish. Any powder in the studio mixes into SUPERBASE the same way.
Superbase
The mighty matt medium. It turns any powder into paint.
10% off when it goes in your bag with a powder.

Asked in the studio
- What is the brightest glow in the dark pigment?
- LIT, made by Stuart Semple to be the glowiest glow pigment in the world. It's a pure phosphorescent powder with rare earth activators that soaks up light and gives it back in the dark. It comes in green, pink, yellow and blue, with ULTRA for ultra-violet and OHMM for pure white.
- How do I make glow in the dark paint?
- Make a paste of LIT with a few drops of water, then stir it into SUPERBASE, about one part LIT to one and a half parts SUPERBASE. Paint it over a white ground. The more LIT you use, the brighter and longer it glows. Only mix what you need, as it sets hard.
- How long does LIT glow?
- For hours. The harder you charge it, the longer it goes, up to around 12 hours. It recharges as many times as you like.
- How do I charge it?
- Daylight, a lamp or heat all charge LIT. The coloured LITs and ULTRA love UV: a UV torch charges them so bright you'll want sunglasses.
- Can I put LIT in resin, nail varnish or oil paint?
- Yes. Stir it into clear resin, linseed oil, clear varnish or clear nail varnish. Keep the binder clear so the light can get out.
- Is there a white glow in the dark pigment?
- OHMM. It's the first pure white glow pigment made for fine art: actual white, not cream. It's archival and pH neutral, so it's safe on your work.
