Beta Lab Drop - Liquid + Powder Kit
You might have seen this stuff all over your socials. It catches the light and suddenly the whole surface looks like it's covered in crushed stars.
People say the videos are AI. They're not.
The problem is, the stuff you're seeing online isn't really made for artists. It's an industrial coating designed for things like cars, it's crazy expensive, and frankly, you can't just dip your brush in it and start making art.
Sadly, although it looks incredible, artists can't really use it.
Obviously, we went into the lab and started messing around with it. We wanted to see if we could make that same ridiculous, shimmering, glittering, light-catching finish - but actually make it for artists. And we think we've cracked it.
PHANTOM is our attempt at creating that impossible-looking, internet-breaking effect in a material you can actually paint with, experiment with and use on real artwork. The secret is in the resin. We've been working with acrylic resins for nearly a decade, and we know how to suspend crazy pigments without smothering them and cutting off their light.
So we started tweaking. And tweaking. And tweaking some more. The result is a strange mixture of pigments that catches and throws back the light in a way that makes the surface look almost unreal. Dense and dramatic, or subtle and mysterious depending on how much pigment you use.
The pigments and liquid base come separately, because we want you to have some control over the experiment. Mix in more powder for a dense, dazzling surface packed with shimmer and reflected colour. Use less and the effect becomes quieter, deeper and more layered. Try it over black. Try it over white. Try it over another colour entirely. We genuinely want to know what happens.
PHANTOM is a small Lab Drop. We've made it because we found something interesting, spent far too long trying to make it usable for artists, and now we want to see what happens when it leaves our studio. Paint with it. How to use it
- ● Mix the powder into the clear base at whatever ratio suits you.
- ● Want maximum shimmer? Add more.
- ● Want something quieter and more layered? Use less.
- ● Colours show best painted on a black background.
- ● Build it up in thin coats, experiment with different coloured surfaces and see how the light changes it.
